Building 2
The Artists House
The house features a glass dome, curved wooden windows and doors, and stone ramparts.
The glass dome is made from 40 triangles of 6mm safety glass joined with silicon sealant. Access to
the dome is via stairs from the second storey which houses two bedrooms and an ensuite.
The house has two large living areas, one internally, and one facing the panoramic views of
the Great Western Tiers mountain range
A wall of three bay windows lets in sunlight for passive solar heating and for an
uninterrupted view. The central bay window extends from the bottom of the lower ground floor
to the top of the ground floor and contains 25 square metres of glass.
One of the three bathrooms has a bath made from natural stone slabs. A stairway leads to the
lower ground floor accesses and a self-contained flat with its own kitchen and bathroom.
The house has gothic characteristics including the styles of the windows and doors and
gargoyles; dragon, snake, swan and piscean fish.
